In our last post, we talked a little bit about a new trend we’ve noticed here in New Mexico: incorporating the state’s opulent and inspiring history into wedding celebrations. Now, we have another gorgeous New Mexican wedding that did just that! (We told you it was an up and coming trend!)

We seriously couldn’t believe how well this darling couple, Emily + Michael executed their New Mexican/Southwest style wedding. Bursts of bright, warm colors in Emily’s bouquet, paired with Michael’s orange tie and deep blue suit — seeing them standing together is like watching the New Mexican sunset over the Sandias.

In the sweet heat of the perfect July day, Emily + Michael brought their family and friends together in Santa Fe to celebrate a love as unique and alive as the city they stood in. Without getting lost in the Southwestern vibes of their wedding either, the couple slipped in some special, personal details to really make the day their own.

The familiar sight of prickly pear cacti, air plants, and miniature ristras are just a few of the little details that came together, with the help of some incredible local vendors, to make Emily + Michael’s remarkable love solidified in memory with a remarkable day. You can try to not tear up at the photos Elizabeth Wells Photography captured, or the beautiful greenery courtesy of Floriography Flowers, but we won’t tell anyone if you do…

Emily and Michael’s wedding was inspired by the rich  and colorful landscape of northern New Mexico in the summer. They wanted their wedding to reflect the vibrant New Mexican culture while also being deeply personal. Thoughtful and fun touches included a “flow chart” escort card by the genius EJD Designs and mini chile ristras for their out of town guests to take home.
