Jill and Will had been together for many years and had recently purchased a house together when, mid- pandemic, they decided to get married. With family and friends scattered across the globe, they seized the opportunity to plan a romantic elopement. Jill’s sister, Kate, had moved to New Mexico in 2019 and was working at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm. When Kate shared LP’s appealing new elopement package with her sister, it was easy for Jill & Will to settle on New Mexico as the destination for their intimate wedding. The couple planned their elopement remotely without having visited the property ahead of time thanks to the expert guidance of Shaelyn Hesch, the Director of Event Sales at Los Poblanos. As Jill put it, “Shaelyn made the planning process so smooth and helped ensure that every detail was perfect for our big day.”

When the big day arrived on November 6th the couple felt relaxed and ready to celebrate. With Nancy Croker officiating, and the guest list limited to just Kate and her husband, Michael, the couple’s heartfelt vows and the stunning backdrop La Quinta made for an emotional and memorable ceremony. Florecita provided beautiful flowers that perfectly complimented the autumn colors on display across the Los Poblanos grounds. Ashley Shaw of Alicia Lucia Photography was on-site to capture the love, laughter, and
sweet, happy tears shared by all that day. The bride’s sister also had a surprise planned for the newlyweds, arranging for local musician Kevin Herig to play a private set after the ceremony on the candlelit Fireplace Terrace. After a champagne toast, dancing, and speeches made by Kate and Michael on behalf of the couple’s families, the foursome enjoyed a spectacular multicourse tasting menu prepared by Chef Jonathan Perno’s team at Campo. The couple was particularly impressed with the
thoughtful explanations that came along with each course: “Learning about the history of New Mexican cuisine and the consideration Los Poblanos takes with their suppliers made the food taste even better. Our meal was perfectly capped off with the classic LP lavender wedding cake.”

Both couples spent the night at the Historic Inn and were able to relax and enjoy the property together, in between calls to friends and family members revealing the surprise elopement news. The care and attention provided by every Los Poblanos staff member made them feel looked after and spoiled every step of the way, both before and after their wedding day. This style of wedding turned out to be perfectly suited to Jill and Will: “We were able to appreciate and truly soak in every moment of the whole experience.” Though they’ll find ways to celebrate with other loved ones in the months and year to come, the newlyweds happily say they wouldn’t change a thing about their intimate Los Poblanos elopement.
