How to select the perfect wedding band

Many couples who are planning a wedding may think decision-making is basically over once they decide they want a band instead of a DJ, but the happy couple cannot check this item off the list yet. There are a number of different things to consider before hiring a band, according to The Huffington Post.

What type of music?
First of all, the betrothed couple needs to determine what type of band they are looking for before they start meeting with different groups.

“One option is to go with a traditional wedding band,” musician and band manager Adam Mason of 45 Riots, a New York City band, told the news source. “But what I’m seeing more and more is that couples want something closer to a nightclub vibe, so they’re looking for a band that can play some indie rock, or hip hop, that sort of thing.”

Consider sound
It is important the band has played at a private event before, as a couple will not want to deal with a band that has never worked with vendors and wouldn’t think about things such as a good enough sound system, the media outlet.

Couples should meet with the bandleader about sound and find out if the venue has an in-house system or if the band has to bring it. If they do, there is one very important question that needs to be asked, and many couples do not know that this is something they should have worked out until it is the day of their event.

“The question to ask is, ‘What do you do to play at the appropriate volume, but still with intensity?’ Some bands may show up with a ton of state-of-the-art gear, but in a small room, that can be overkill. What you want is a band that can provide a clear and clean sound with a lot of energy, but without drowning out all conversation,” Mason told the news outlet.

Although there are a number of things couples have to keep straight, there is one myth that they can leave out of their wedding planning. When it comes to choosing the perfect band, the biggest is not necessarily the best. So, don’t chose a band because of their size, but rather how they play together.
